The idiom “Sit on the fence” is commonly used to describe a situation where a person remains neutral and does not take sides in an argument or make a decision when faced with two options. Recently, my two friends, Nina and Raji, were engaged in a debate about the involvement of youth in politics. Nina emphasized the significance of having active young individuals in political affairs, while Raji highlighted the importance of experienced elders. Since both Nina and Raji are close to me, I found myself sitting on the fence, not wanting to show support for one side over the other. I opted to remain a passive observer, waiting for them to conclude their argument, as I did not wish to favor one perspective at the expense of the other.
