Deleterious

If something is deleterious, it has the potential to cause harm or worsen a situation. In the case of Herbert, who was entrusted with the responsibility of training a new employee, the combination of increased workload and personal issues at home led him to exhibit verbally abusive behavior towards the new joiner. Additionally, he made disparaging comments about the new employee’s performance. Unfortunately, the management blindly believed Herbert’s negative feedback and, as a consequence, dismissed the new employee. Regrettably, Herbert showed no remorse for the situation and moved on to a new company, only to face similar mistreatment from the person tasked with training him. This cycle of harmful behavior demonstrates the deleterious impact it can have on both individuals and the work environment.
