Incremental efforts toward a big goal

When it comes to achieving our goals, it’s easy to get discouraged by the sheer size of the task ahead of us. Whether it’s losing weight, learning a new language, or starting a business, it can be overwhelming to think about all the work that needs to be done. However, by making incremental efforts toward our goals, we can achieve them over time without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. This is where the 1% principle comes into play.

The 1% principle is a simple concept that involves making small, incremental efforts towards a goal every day. Staying at just 1% compounded over 365 days does not add up to a significant improvement. It will stay at 1%, 1^365=1

The idea is that if we improve by just 0.01% every day, we will see significant progress over time. To illustrate this point, consider the following example: if you were to improve by just 0.01% every day for a year, you would be 37.8 times better at the end of the year than you were at the beginning. 1.01^365=37.8
